Orešhko — premium,
from the source.
A full e-commerce experience for a premium walnut and dried-fruit brand. Editorial product pages, subscription orders, and a Bulgarian-first checkout that makes the most of a loyal local customer base.
The brief.
Orešhko is a premium Bulgarian brand built around quality walnuts and dried fruit. The product is good — sourced carefully, packaged thoughtfully, and priced to reflect that. The challenge was a digital presence that wasn't keeping up: an underperforming shop that didn't do justice to the brand, and no subscription option for loyal repeat customers.
The brief called for an e-commerce experience that felt as premium as the product — editorial product pages with real photography, a subscription order system for regulars, and a checkout flow that worked natively for Bulgarian customers without feeling like a generic WooCommerce installation.
Constraints
- Editorial product pages — each product needed space to tell its story: provenance, taste notes, serving suggestions, not just a title and price.
- Subscription orders — repeat customers needed an easy way to set up recurring orders at a frequency they control.
- Bulgarian-first checkout — Speedy and Econt delivery, lev pricing, and Bulgarian-language throughout.
- Brand-appropriate design — warm, natural, and premium; nothing that looked like a supermarket website.
Our approach.
We built on WooCommerce with a fully custom theme — no starter template. Product pages were structured as editorial pages first: large photography, provenance copy, and serving suggestions above the fold, with the add-to-cart action lower on the page once the product has been properly introduced.

What we built.
Editorial product pages
Each product has a full editorial layout — provenance, photography, serving suggestions, and taste notes — not just a title and SKU.
Bulgarian-first checkout
Speedy and Econt delivery options, lev pricing, and a Bulgarian-language checkout flow designed for the local market.
Custom premium theme
Warm naturals, considered typography, and large-format product photography — a custom theme that feels as premium as the product.
Results.
The store launched in 2024. The editorial product pages drove a measurable lift in average order value — customers who read the provenance copy added more to their basket.
The stack.
- WordPress + WooCommerce — e-commerce foundation
- Custom theme — editorial product layout and warm premium brand system built from scratch
- Speedy + Econt courier integration for Bulgarian domestic delivery with live rate calculation
