Mega Market — retail,
done properly.
A full retail website for one of Bulgaria's growing supermarket chains — weekly digital brochures, a store locator, product catalogue, and integrated promotions that update without a developer in the room.
The brief.
Mega Market is one of Bulgaria's expanding supermarket chains, with multiple locations and a loyal local customer base. Their digital presence hadn't kept pace with their physical growth — a basic static page that couldn't handle weekly promotions, store information, or catalogue browsing.
The brief was clear: build a retail website that the marketing team could operate without developer involvement. Weekly brochures should go live on schedule. Store hours should be editable in minutes. Promotional banners should rotate automatically. The site needed to feel like a modern retail brand — not a WordPress afterthought.
Constraints
- Operational independence — the marketing team updates the site multiple times per week; every content type had to have a clean CMS interface.
- Bulgarian-first — all content in Bulgarian, pricing in lev, courier integrations for the local market.
- Weekly brochure cycle — PDF brochures go live every Thursday; the site needed automated scheduling and archive management.
- Multi-location — store locator covering all branches with opening hours and map integration.
Our approach.
We built on WordPress with WooCommerce for catalogue management — the team already knew the CMS pattern, so training overhead was minimal. The brochure system was a custom post type with scheduled publishing, archive display, and PDF download tracking built in.
The store locator used a custom fields architecture that let non-technical staff update opening hours, add new branches, and manage holiday schedules through the admin panel. Map integration used the standard embed approach to keep load times clean on mobile.

What we built.
Weekly digital brochure system
Scheduled publishing for weekly PDF brochures, with archive browsing and download tracking. Goes live on time, every time.
Store locator with opening hours
All branches on an interactive map. Hours, addresses, and holiday schedules editable from the admin panel without developer help.
Product catalogue with promotions
WooCommerce catalogue configured for retail browsing — promotional pricing, category landing pages, and loyalty programme integration.
Bulgarian-first mobile experience
Mobile-optimised throughout, with Bulgarian language and lev pricing as defaults, designed for shoppers on their phones.
Results.
The site launched in 2024 and gave the marketing team full operational control for the first time. Weekly brochures now go live on schedule without a developer in the loop, and the store locator reduced location-related support queries significantly.
The product catalogue and promotions section created a new digital channel for awareness campaigns previously limited to print and in-store displays.
The stack.
- WordPress + WooCommerce — retail CMS and catalogue management with custom post types for brochures and stores
- Custom theme — designed and built from scratch to match the Mega Market brand system
- Speedy + Econt courier integration for Bulgarian domestic delivery
- Maps integration — store locator with branch data managed via custom fields
